Our prekindergarten program is a 3 or 4 day per week, 2.5 hour per day program that
supports each student as he or she develops confidence in learning.
Curriculum
Art |
Hands-on projects allow students to express their ideas through visual arts using a variety of art materials as well as tools and techniques. An emphasis is placed on the creative process and experience, rather than the final product.
Bible |
By singing songs, acting out stories, and reading our preschool Bibles, students partake in a creative approach to learning about God's love. Monthly curriculum focuses on powerful Biblical truths relating to character development and a love for Jesus and others.
Language Arts
Weekly curriculum encompasses letter, word, and name recognition, phonetic understanding, letter and name writing, sound matching, rhyme, alliteration and repetition. Oral and written skills are honed through reading comprehension, group games, and hands-on activities.
Math |
Pre-K math is a fun, hands- on activity that helps children learn foundational elements of mathematical knowledge in preparation for kindergarten. Understanding numbers and counting, and connecting both by playing with blocks of many shapes, shape-sorters, snap together construction pieces, play-doh and other materials, pre-Kinders are introduced to geometry. Students begin to notice patterns in counting and in arrangements of shapes from learning numbers, counting and sequencing, to shape and pattern recognition, to measurement and charts.

Music & Movement
We love to sing at Joyful Learning! Songs are a great way to help children learn and remember. Singing contributes to teach behavior, basic skills, and social skills. Preschool songs also use rhymes to help children to learn vocabulary and communication skills! We teach songs about Nature, months, seasons, Jesus, the Bible, friendship and all of our monthly themes during our music and movement class. We incorporate different musical instruments throughout the year to teach rhythm and beat.
Natural Science
Observing, experimenting, and exploring is at the forefront of the curriculum. Focusing on the natural world of animals, plants, weather, etc., young scientists are encouraged to ask questions and investigate their predictions.
Social Science
Our curriculum emphasizes social and emotional development by teaching students about the world on all levels: international, national, regional and local. Students are taught about geography as well as communities, families, friendships and cultures around the globe.
Technology |
We have two school ipads that are used as classroom tools to occasionally enhance a topic being taught. We believe that hands on learning, play and natural interactions and discoveries are the best way for children to explore and discover the world around them.
